Sarah Bartlett is one of the UK's leading astrologists and numbers Cosmopolitan Magazine (UK), Prima Magazine, Spirit & Destiny Magazine and the London Evening Standard amongst her clients.

When we first started planning this site Sarah was looking for ways to raise her profile and exposure within the professional media circuit and to encourage personal consultation.

As soon as discussions began it became obvious that Sarah wanted something quite different to the other leading sites (Jonathan Cainer, Claire Petulengro, Michele Knight et al) and to create something more intriguing and inline with Sarah's own mysticism.

The concept emerged out of Quantos's own love of highly stylised computer games such as Myst and Sarah's desire to include a slice of her own Loire Valley countryside - as seen through the "study" window. Unusually, navigation of the site is via illustrated, individual tomes on a virtual shelf and other objects in Sarah's Loire study.

The site also functions as a realtime observatory to the constellations as well as providing access to monthly horoscopes, in-depth pre-recorded readings and historical information on the stars and psychology of the zodiac signs. There's also password controlled access for the media - via a Media Only Book - for further information and availability for assignments.

The site is buit in Flash MX and makes extensive use of Actionscript to open/close the additional tomes. In fact to maintain speed the whole site only uses 3 jpeg images throughout: The study illustration itself, the book cover and the inside spread (all by UK illustrator Jonathan Wolstenholme). All other content is Flash vector graphics and typography (AmericanUncIniD) and all other effects are created with Actionscript. I use ASP to set and detect variables - which I use for global time of day/location referencing and for browsing for matching horoscopes.
