Usability design is the conscious process of designing a website around your users rather than the other way round. It is very closely aligned with other key website design and application concepts such the design of the graphical user interface, the navigation scheme, page contruction and even the layout and writing of pages to conform to strict usability and accessibility guidelines laid down by various regional governments -including here in the UK.

A well-designed, user-friendly website or online application that works for all kinds of visitor, including the visually impaired has to make good sense for everyone concerned. Clients concentrating on usability are usually focusing less on holistic changes and re-designs of their websites - although that accounts for a large percentage of the work too - and more on micro-level adjustments such as navigation changes, form redesign, ironing-out difficulties with registration and check-out processes.
